School Actions Planning 2026-2027

La Joya ISD is committed to continuous improvement, particularly in pursuit of our North Star Goal and continued alignment to our Strategic Plan, Achieving Excellence Together 2030. The district must always consider the actions and strategies that will improve experiences and outcomes for students as well as take into consideration the fiscal health of our District. Based on that continuous improvement commitment, and the compelling reasons shared here, the district administration has recommended the following school actions to the school board for consideration. If approved at the January 21, 2026 school board meeting, the school actions would go into effect with the 2026-27 school year and in one case, the 2027-28 school year. These school actions:
-
Academic Quality: Ensure all impacted students are attending a higher-rated school than where they are currently enrolled or a school with a new academic program;
-
Enrollment Decline: Address the decline in enrollment in the district by strategically reducing the number of schools; and
-
Financial Stability: Ensure continued financial sustainability for the district by reducing building overhead and allowing for more efficient and strategic staffing.
