La Joya, TX - La Joya ISD successfully hosted its 6th Annual Family NASA Night on Friday, May 1, welcoming elementary students and their families to an exciting evening filled with exploration, innovation, and hands-on learning at the La Joya ISD Planetarium.

The highly anticipated event transformed the planetarium into a hub of curiosity and creativity, where students in grades K-5 engaged in a wide range of interactive STEM experiences designed to spark imagination and deepen understanding of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Throughout the evening, attendees explored more than 20 interactive STEM workstations, participated in engaging science experiments, and created their own make-and-take projects. Each activity encouraged students to think critically, solve problems, and explore real-world applications of STEM concepts in a fun and meaningful way.

“Family NASA Night continues to be a powerful example of how learning can come to life beyond the classroom,” said Brenda Garcia, Executive Director of K-12 Mathematics & Science for La Joya ISD. “By providing hands-on STEM experiences and involving families in the learning process, we are not only sparking curiosity in our students, but also helping them see themselves as future scientists, engineers, and innovators.”

Hosted in the district’s state-of-the-art planetarium, the event provided a unique and immersive setting where students could explore space science while building a deeper appreciation for STEM-related fields. The evening also fostered meaningful connections between schools and families, reinforcing the district’s commitment to collaborative, student-centered learning.

La Joya ISD’s Family NASA Night brought the district’s Achieving Excellence Together: 2030 strategic plan to life by advancing Priority 3: Thriving Students through interactive, student-centered learning experiences, while also supporting Priority 4: Community Trust, Unity, & Partnership by inviting families to be active participants in their child’s educational journey.

As the district continues to prioritize innovative learning experiences, events like Family NASA Night play a vital role in inspiring the next generation of thinkers, creators, and problem-solvers across La Joya ISD.
