LJHS T&F Athletes

La Joya, TX - La Joya High School continues to showcase excellence on the track and in the field as three standout student-athletes deliver impressive performances this season, earning top honors and advancing to the regional stage.

Leading the charge is Jaida Flowers, who made history by setting a new school record in discus with a throw of 132’ 5”. Flowers claimed the title of District Champion, earned Area Silver Medalist, and secured her place as a Regional Qualifier, solidifying her position as one of the top throwers in the region.

On the track, Aliyah Martinez demonstrated speed and determination in the 100-meter dash, finishing as District Runner-Up and earning Area Bronze Medalist honors. Her strong performance advanced her to the regional meet, where she will continue representing La Joya High School among the area’s elite competitors.

In the field events, Isaac Segura delivered a powerful showing in both shot put and discus. Suarez recorded a 44’ 1” throw in shot put, earning both Area Qualifier and Regional Qualifier distinctions. In discus, he achieved a new personal record of 142’ 3”, qualifying for area competition and earning the title of Regional Alternate.

Together, these athletes exemplify the hard work, discipline, and commitment that define La Joya High School athletics.

“Our athletes have put in countless hours of work, and it’s exciting to see that dedication translate into success at the highest levels,” said Leslie Luna, La Joya High School Head Coach for girls Track & Field. “These athletes have each shown incredible perseverance and leadership throughout the season. They continue to raise the standard for our program, and we are proud to see them represent our school at regionals.”

“These accomplishments reflect not only the talent of our student-athletes, but also the strength of our coaching and support systems,” said Valdemar Benoit, Head Coach for the Boys Track and Field. “We are incredibly proud of Jaida, Aliyah, and Isaac for their outstanding performances. They represent the very best of La Joya High School, and we look forward to cheering them on as they compete at the regional level.”

As the season continues, all eyes will be on these athletes as they carry their momentum forward, representing La Joya High School with pride, determination, and excellence.
