La Joya, TX - In a powerful celebration of culture, talent, and musical excellence, Palmview High School’s Conjunto La Tradición has earned top honors on the state stage - bringing home the State Championship title at the prestigious La Cultura Vive “Duelo” State Competition in the Team Division.
The dynamic duo of Hector Contreras and Gabriel Meza delivered an outstanding performance that secured them the championship title, showcasing not only exceptional musical skill but also a deep-rooted pride in conjunto tradition. Their achievement marks a significant milestone for Palmview High School and La Joya ISD, highlighting the strength and impact of the district’s Fine Arts programs.
Adding to the celebration, Christian Zapata and Javier Rangel earned an impressive 2nd Place finish, further demonstrating the depth of talent within the program. Valentina Alanís and Esequiel Resendez also represented Palmview High School with distinction, contributing to a strong overall showing at the state competition.
Together, these students exemplified dedication, teamwork, and a passion for preserving and elevating cultural music traditions - values that resonate deeply within the La Joya ISD community.
