La Joya, TX - The roar of Coyote pride is echoing loud and clear as the La Joya High School Boys Basketball Team heads to the Area Playoffs this week!
The Coyotes secured a decisive victory over Brownsville Veterans Memorial High School with grit, heart, and relentless determination. From defensive stops to clutch shots, every possession reflected the dedication and hard work this team has poured into the season.
Now, the journey continues to Goliad, Texas, where La Joya High School will face off against the Judson High School Rockets in the Area Playoffs on Friday, February 27 at 6 p.m., as the Coyotes look to extend their postseason run and continue making history.
“This team continues to represent La Joya ISD with pride, resilience, and competitive excellence,” said Joe Peña, Executive Director of Athletics. “Advancing to the Area Playoffs is a testament to their commitment, preparation, and belief in one another. We are incredibly proud of our student-athletes and coaching staff for the way they compete and the way they carry themselves both on and off the court.”
The atmosphere in last night’s game was electric, with students, families, and community members supporting their Coyotes. The victory not only advances the team in the postseason, but also reflects the strong culture of excellence being cultivated across La Joya ISD athletics.
“Our players have worked tirelessly all season, and this win speaks volumes about their character and perseverance,” said Eduardo Flores, La Joya High School Principal. “They are leaders on campus and role models for our younger students. We invite our entire Coyote community to rally behind them as they prepare for Thursday’s matchup.”
As tipoff approaches, excitement continues to build across campus and throughout the district. With momentum on their side and unwavering community support behind them, the Coyotes are ready to take the court once again.
