LJISD School Board Recognition Month

La Joya, TX - A time to honor the dedicated leaders who help shape the future of public education, January marks National School Board Recognition Month and La Joya ISD is proud to celebrate by recognizing the extraordinary service of its school board members.

From setting district goals and approving initiatives to advocating for students and families, school board members devote countless hours to public service - often behind the scenes - to help create safe, supportive, and high-quality learning environments across all campuses.

Through thoughtful leadership and a deep connection to the community, La Joya ISD School Board Members help move the district forward in alignment with the district’s strategic plan - Achieving Excellence Together: 2030.

Throughout January, La Joya ISD campuses have celebrated board members in meaningful and memorable ways. Trustees have visited schools across the district, where students and staff have welcomed them with special recognitions, heartfelt messages, and student performances that have highlighted the incredible talent and spirit found throughout La Joya ISD. From musical performances and student presentations to campus-led tributes, these moments have served as a powerful reminder of the impact board leadership has on the educational experience of every student.

“Serving our district is truly an honor,” said Julian Alvarez III, La Joya ISD School Board President. “Our board members are united by a shared belief in the potential of every student and a deep responsibility to our community. Together, we work to ensure our decisions reflect what is best for our children, our staff, and the future of La Joya ISD.”

School board service requires dedication, collaboration, and a willingness to listen. Board members regularly engage with families, staff, and community partners to better understand the needs of the district and to strengthen trust that connects schools and the community - a commitment that aligns closely to priority 4 within the strategic plan - Community Trust, Unity, & Partnership.

La Joya ISD extends its heartfelt appreciation to each School Board Member for their leadership, integrity, and dedication to public education. Their collective efforts help ensure that district decisions remain student-focused, community-driven, and rooted in a commitment to excellence.
