La Joya, Texas - A strong commitment to academic excellence and student success is paying off in a big way for La Joya ISD. Nine campuses have earned recognition on the 2025 Texas Honor Roll, a prestigious statewide distinction highlighting schools that deliver exceptional outcomes for students and help close achievement gaps.
The Honor Roll, presented by Educational Results Partnership (ERP), celebrates public schools and districts that outperform their peers in student achievement, demonstrate consistent academic growth, and serve historically underserved student populations at high levels. The recognition is based on publicly available STAAR testing data from 2023-2025.
Out of thousands of campuses across Texas, only 1,076 schools and 84 districts - roughly 15% of schools and 14.5% of districts statewide - earned a place on this year’s list. Among them are nine La Joya ISD campuses:
Thelma R. Salinas STEM Early College High School
Memorial Middle School
John F. Kennedy Elementary
E.B. Reyna Elementary
Diaz-Villarreal Elementary
Henry B. Gonzalez Elementary
Lloyd M. Bentsen Jr. Elementary
Sam Fordyce Elementary
Enrique “Kiki” Camarena Elementary
According to ERP, Honor Roll schools demonstrate strong academic performance across all student groups, measurable growth over time, and a clear commitment to reducing achievement gaps.
“This recognition reflects the relentless dedication of our teachers, campus leaders, students, and families,” said Dr. Derek Little, Chief of Academics & School Leadership. “At La Joya ISD, we believe excellence should be accessible to every child, and these campuses are proof that with high expectations, strong instruction, and meaningful support, all students can succeed.”
The achievement aligns with Priority 3: Thriving Students in La Joya ISD’s Achieving Excellence Together 2030 Strategic Plan, which focuses on ensuring all learners are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in college, career, and life.
District leaders say the honor is more than a title - it represents the daily work happening in classrooms to support students academically, socially, and emotionally.
La Joya ISD proudly congratulates the nine campuses recognized on the 2025 Texas Honor Roll. Their success highlights the powerful impact of strong instruction, supportive learning environments, and a shared belief that every student can achieve at high levels.
