LJISD Students Shine at Annual Holiday Parade

La Joya, TX - The City of La Joya came alive with holiday spirit as families, students, and community partners gathered along Leo Avenue for the annual Christmas Parade - a cherished tradition that brought the season’s joy to the heart of the community.

Held on Saturday, December 13, the parade featured festive floats, various school groups, student organizations, local businesses, churches, and community members—all united by a shared commitment to celebrating togetherness. Lined with cheering families and smiling children, the route transformed into a joyful display of music, color, and holiday cheer.

La Joya ISD students proudly represented their campuses, spreading smiles and showcasing the pride, talent, and spirit that define the district. 

Among the schools and groups that participated were La Joya High School’s JROTC, marching band, football team,  and cheerleaders, Zavala Middle School’s Jr. Jewelettes, Dr. Saenz Middle School, Palmview High School’s marching band, and Rubies, Bentsen Elementary, Juarez-Lincoln High School’s marching band, and silver stars, Garza Elementary, JFK Elementary School’s Jewelettes, Grupo Folklorico La Joyas, and Tabasco Elementary. 

The participation of various schools and student organizations highlighted the strong partnership between the school district and the City of La Joya, reinforcing the importance of collaboration and community engagement - a core pillar within Achieving Excellence Together: 2030. Fulfilling Priority 4 - Community Trust, Unity, & Partnership - of the strategic plan, the annual parade is a meaningful example of how shared experiences strengthen relationships and bring the community closer together. 

“At La Joya ISD, being part of the community means showing up; not just in our classrooms, but in the moments that bring families together,” said Annette Lozano, Executive Director of Student, Family, & Community Engagement. “Marching alongside our neighbors in the Christmas Parade is a reminder that our schools are at the heart of this community, and together, we create memories that last far beyond the holiday season.”

As the final floats passed and the holiday music faded, the spirit of the season lingered—leaving behind memories of connection, joy, and a community united in celebration.
