Senior Health Science students from Juarez-Lincoln High School stepped into their future this week as they toured the Texas A&M Higher Education Center in McAllen (HECM). Greeted with a big, warm Aggie “Howdy,” students received an up-close look at university life and the academic opportunities waiting for them beyond graduation.
During the visit, Texas A&M’s campus tour guides led students through an immersive experience that included a full campus tour, introductions to faculty and staff, and meaningful insights into the academic programs offered at HECM. The highlight of the day included a presentation by Eva Magallán, College of Nursing Academic Advisor, who shared valuable information about the university’s Nursing Program. Her words of encouragement empowered students to follow their passion, pursue higher education, and envision themselves thriving in a collegiate environment.
Experiences like this fulfill Priority Two of Achieving Excellence Together: 2030, which focuses on empowering graduates through strong partnerships and offering insight into real-world experiences and ensuring our students are prepared for college and beyond.
La Joya ISD extends its gratitude to the Texas A&M Higher Education Center for opening its doors and inspiring our students.
