La Joya, TX - At the regular called Board Meeting on October 22, 2025, the La Joya ISD Board Members unanimously approved the purchase and installation of new LED video display boards and scoreboard systems for the district’s football stadium and all three comprehensive high school gymnasiums. Board members expressed their excitement and pride in supporting this project, which represents a major investment in both student achievement and community engagement.
The nearly $2 million investment reflects the district’s ongoing commitment to excellence, trust, and transparency while supporting student programs and fostering school spirit.
The project, awarded to Nevco Sports, LLC of Greenville, Texas, will deliver a complete turn-key solution that includes one outdoor LED video display board and integrated sound system for La Joya ISD Pack Stadium, along with three indoor LED boards for La Joya High School, Palmview High School, and Juarez-Lincoln High School.
According to district officials, these modern systems will elevate the overall game-day and event experience, improve visibility for spectators, and expand multimedia capabilities across athletic and community events.
“La Joya ISD is proud to invest in a best-in-class scoreboard system for our athletics facilities, an enhancement that reflects our commitment to excellence, pride, and community engagement,” said Dr. Marcey Sorensen, Superintendent of Schools. “This investment is more than just a visual upgrade. It’s a statement of our belief that our students deserve facilities that match their talent, dedication, and potential. Whether on the field, court, or track, our athletes represent the heart of La Joya ISD, and we are committed to celebrating their achievements with the same level of professionalism and pride seen in top-tier programs across the state.”
This initiative supports several key areas of the district’s Strategic Plan: Achieving Excellence Together 2030. It advances Thriving Students by providing modern, high-quality facilities that enhance student experiences and foster pride. It strengthens Community Trust, Unity, and Partnership by creating engaging spaces that bring families and the community together. It also reflects Operational Excellence and Financial Stability through a strategic investment that modernizes district infrastructure while ensuring long-term value.
Installation and testing are scheduled to begin during the current school year, with full completion ahead of the 2026 athletic season.
“This project is an investment not only in technology but in our students, schools, and community spirit,” said Board President Julian Alvarez III. “We are excited to see these upgrades come to life and look forward to celebrating many future victories under the Friday night lights of La Joya ISD.”
