LJISD Superintendent Hosts Advisory Committees

La Joya, TX - La Joya ISD continues advancing its Achieving Excellence Together 2030 Strategic Plan through active engagement with community partners and key stakeholder groups across the district.

This month, Superintendent Dr. Marcey Sorensen met with Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez to discuss shared goals and collaborative efforts that support student success and community growth. The meeting follows recent presentations of the district’s strategic plan to the cities of Mission, Alton, La Joya, Palmview, Peñitas, and Sullivan, as La Joya ISD works to ensure that every municipality it serves is informed, included, and part of the conversation.

“We are proud to continue strengthening partnerships with our local leaders,” said Dr. Sorensen. “When local government and the school district work together, to support our community, we then create partnerships that can ensure opportunities that reach every student, every classroom, and every family in La Joya ISD.”

Building on that same spirit of collaboration, La Joya ISD also launched its Superintendent’s Advisory Committees this past month, spaces designed to bring the voices of parents, educators, students, and principals directly into the district’s planning and decision-making process.

The first meetings with the Parent and Educator Advisory Committees saw strong participation, with members engaging in activities and discussions centered on the district’s five strategic priorities. The Student and Principal Advisory Committees will convene in the coming weeks, completing the district’s comprehensive approach to stakeholder engagement.

“Each of these advisory groups plays an essential role in helping us refine and align our work,” added Dr. Sorensen. “Their input ensures that our strategic plan reflects the realities of our classrooms and the aspirations of our community.”

Through ongoing city and county outreach and the launch of these advisory committees, La Joya ISD continues to build a culture of transparency, unity, and shared purpose, fulfilling the district’s commitment to Achieving Excellence Together 2030.
