La Joya, TX – La Joya ISD is proudly celebrating elementary school music teacher Lauro Gonzalez, who will be featured as a special guest during Texas A&M Kingsville’s School of Music: Elementary Alumni Highlight Session.
Taking place Tuesday, October 28, the session will feature Mr. Gonzalez who will share his experience leading the John F. Kennedy Elementary School Choir and Drumline – two programs Gonzalez developed to engage students in creative performance.
“Through the choir and drumline program, Mr. Gonzalez is inspiring a love for music while fostering teamwork, confidence and connection,” said Ruben Adame, Fine Arts Director for La Joya ISD. “Mr. Gonzalez exemplifies the spirit of innovation and passion that we strive to cultivate across our district. His work demonstrates how music education can transform classrooms and communities alike.”
The session, intended for the TAMUK School of Music community, students and staff, will offer attendees valuable insights into Gonzalez’s creative approach to teaching and student engagement. The session also serves as a moment of pride for La Joya ISD to showcase its commitment to nurturing leaders who inspire excellence in and beyond the classroom.
“Getting to build up on the elementary music program has been a true honor,” said Mr. Gonzalez. “Teaching music to elementary students is such a rewarding experience because it really shows how important music is for kids ages 3 to 11 years old.”
Overall, Mr. Gonzalez most looks forward to the opportunity of being a positive resource for current TAMUK students considering a role in elementary music education. Beyond that, he hopes to bring pride to his JFK family and La Joya ISD community, saying he continues being inspired by his hard-working colleagues who push him to be the best educator he can be.
Committed to excellence in leadership, the first priority at the heart of La Joya ISD’s strategic plan, Mr. Gonzalez is a product of the district’s efforts to grow strong leaders and cultivate educators who create conditions for high-quality instruction in every classroom, every day.
“I have great pride in being a part of La Joya ISD. Year after year, I have been able to add to and further develop the elementary music program because of the opportunities La Joya ISD has for its students,” said Mr. Gonzalez. “I am also so grateful for the opportunity to work with students and would like to thank the JFK parents and community for their never-ending support in their children’s education.”
La Joya ISD congratulates Mr. Gonzalez on this well-deserved recognition and celebrates his contributions to advancing music education at La Joya ISD!
