La Joya ISD Launches AP to Principal Pipeline Program

La Joya, TX – La Joya ISD is investing in its future – one leader at a time. The district is proud to announce it has officially launched its Assistant Principal (AP) to Principal Pipeline – a year-long leadership development program designed to prepare assistant principals for the next step in their educational career: leading a campus of their own.

In its inaugural cohort, 13 assistant principals from various La Joya ISD campuses will participate in the program, each bringing a unique blend of experience, perspective, and commitment to student success.

Born from community input gathered during the district’s strategic planning process, which engaged more than 5,600 stakeholders across 49 engagement opportunities, the program represents La Joya ISD’s ongoing commitment to developing strong, accountable leaders who will shape the future of education.

With a focus on cultivating highly effective school leaders, the new initiative directly supports Priority 1 of Achieving Excellence Together: 2030, by focusing on supporting the growth of strong, accountable leaders at every level who foster high-quality instruction in every classroom, every day.

“Our strategic plan calls for intentional investment in leadership,” said Jaime Miller, Chief of Human Capital & Talent Development. “This program not only strengthens our pipeline of future principals – it ensures that every student, teacher, and family benefits from strong instructional leadership rooted in equity, excellence and community trust.”

The 13 APs in the program will be paired with current principals for mentoring and engage in monthly professional learning sessions, individualized coaching, and hands-on leadership projects designed to prepare them for principalship.

“This initiative exemplifies our commitment to growing our own,” said Miller. “By investing in our assistant principals through guided mentorship and applied learning, we are creating a sustainable leadership model that will continue to strengthen La Joya ISD for years to come.”

The AP to Principal Pipeline Program is a cornerstone effort to guarantee every La Joya ISD campus is led by effective, visionary leaders.
