LJISD Hosts Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk

La Joya, TX – This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the La Joya ISD community gathered in a show of solidarity, compassion and hope during the district’s annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk.

Held at the La Joya ISD Pack Stadium on Saturday, October 18, the event welcomed nearly 1,000 attendees who donned pink and walked side by side to honor survivors, support the fighters and remember loved ones affected by breast cancer.

Serving as a powerful reminder of the significance of community, members of each La Joya ISD campus were in attendance reminding the community that the fight against breast cancer is faced together.

“We are more than a school district. We are a family and events like this showcase the strength that comes when we unite for a purpose,” said Annette Lozano, Executive Director of Student, Family & Community Engagement. “Supporting breast cancer awareness means standing with those who are fighting, celebrating those who have overcome and educating our community on the importance of early detection.”

A reflection of remembrance and hope, each step taken represented a promise to keep spreading awareness, encouraging preventative care and offering compassion to anyone touched by the disease.

Beyond supporting those in the fight, the annual walk is a testament to La Joya ISD’s commitment to the community – a core aspect at the heart of our strategic plan, Achieving Excellence Together: 2030. Listed at Priority 4 in the plan, Community Trust, Unity and Partnership focuses on building strong relationships within the community with transparent communication and a shared commitment to student success.

“Our community came out in full force; unified and showing district pride,” said Lozano. “Events like this are the perfect way to bridge La Joya ISD with our community.”

A heartfelt thank you to each and every attendee and all the departments that participated and helped make this year’s walk a success!
