La Joya, TX – La Joya ISD is proud to announce that it has once again been recognized by the Government of Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for excellence in financial reporting.
Recently, the district received the Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR) Award – a distinction for state and local entities that produce high-quality annual financial reports that successfully simplify complex financial data.
To win the PAFR Award means La Joya ISD met the highest standards for preparing and presenting its financial information to the public.
“This national recognition underscores the district’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accessibility and financial stewardship,” said Mirgitt Crespo, Chief of Business & Administrative Services for La Joya ISD. “By producing a report that is both clear and comprehensive, La Joya ISD is demonstrating the highest standards of accountability to our community.”

“Finance is more than just about managing dollars; it’s about creating conditions for better outcomes, aligning funds to instruction and ensuring trust in how our resources are used,” said Crespo. “Transparent reporting and strong financial practices provide the foundation that allows teachers to focus on instruction, campuses to strengthen student supports and the district to ensure every investment makes a difference in student success.”
This national award reflects the values of the district and demonstrates the belief that strong financial foundations build stronger futures for our students.
