Director of Early Learning Invited to Speak at National Panel

La Joya, TX – Committed to the success of every student, La Joya ISD understands the vital role early learning plays in the development of young minds. By nurturing cognitive, social and emotional growth from the earliest years, educators across the district are building essential skills that lead to stronger academic outcomes and form a foundation for life-long success.

To support this vision, La Joya ISD’s Early Learning Department, under the leadership of Myra Ramos, Executive Director for Early Learning, implemented The Creative Curriculum in all Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 classrooms.

Developed by Teaching Strategies – a national platform that provides tools and guidance for early childhood educators – The Creative Curriculum is play-based and encourages exploration and curiosity while helping teachers build vocabulary, literacy and math skills.

Through the district-wide implementation of The Creative Curriculum, La Joya ISD has strengthened teaching practices through Power Hours, Learning Walks and campus-based coaching.

To mark a successful implementation, Ramos was recently selected by Teaching Strategies to serve as a panelist during the organization’s annual national webinar taking place Thursday, October 23.

Entitled Creating a Joyful Culture: Voices from the Field, the webinar features distinguished partner programs from across the country and will highlight the impact of The Creative Curriculum on early learning, which is meant to foster joyful, engaging and effective learning environments.

“At La Joya ISD, we know early learning is where success begins,” said Ramos. “I am deeply proud of our Early Learning team for the progress we have made together and I am grateful to Teaching Strategies for recognizing our efforts and celebrating the impact high-quality early childhood programs can have on children’s futures.”

Beyond getting to represent La Joya ISD on a national stage, Ramos says she is most looking forward to collaborating with other districts and exchanging ideas as well as learning new ways to enhance curriculum and assessment for students.

La Joya ISD is proud to be recognized for its strong early learning program and the dedicated teachers who bring The Creative Curriculum to life each day.
