La Joya, TX – Amid the excitement for the first day of school, La Joya ISD educators are preparing for academic success with a week of preparation and professional development.
In-service days serve as a vital opportunity for teachers to refine their instructional practices, strengthen collaboration and ensure alignment with the district’s academic goals.
This year’s in-service days focused on the integration of the Bluebonnet Learning Curriculum – instructional materials developed by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) crafted around the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), which are the state standards for what students should know and be able to do.
The state-developed curriculum is evidence-based and designed to be grade-level appropriate. Because Bluebonnet Learning is centered on TEKS standards, it is sure to address and close achievement gaps and varied learning levels to ensure every student is on track academically.
“As a state-developed resource, Bluebonnet Learning gives our teachers the structure and content they need to drive student success,” said Dr. Derek Little, Chief of Academics & School Leadership. “Bluebonnet Learning ensures every student benefits from lesson plans built on strong instructions design.”
To prepare for the curriculum’s rollout, La Joya ISD teachers participated in extensive trainings focused on incorporating Bluebonnet Learning into their classrooms. These sessions, which took place the week prior to the first day of school, aimed to help equip our teachers with the tools to deliver lessons that are engaging, equitable and aligned with state standards.
By implementing Bluebonnet Learning, La Joya ISD reinforces its commitment to delivering high-quality, equitable educational experiences. Bluebonnet Learning ensures every student across the district receives an instruction rooted in best practices and aligned to Texas Standards.
