Parents Gather for Meet the Teacher Night

La Joya, TX – In anticipation of a new school year, La Joya ISD Campuses, this week, opened their doors and welcomed families for Meet the Teacher Night – an opportunity for parents and teachers to connect, build relationships and establish expectations as well as set a positive tone for the year ahead.

Between August 5 and August 7, parents, guardians and students filled the hallways of all La Joya ISD campuses to find classrooms, meet teachers face-to-face and ensure students step into their first day of school with confidence and excitement.

For many students, the evening served as an important opportunity to ease first-day jitters and begin building a positive rapport with their teachers.

“More than just an introduction, Meet the Teacher Night is the first step in building a strong partnership between home and school,” said Eliamar Lopez, Principal at Juan N. Seguin Elementary.

“When families and educators connect early on, it creates a foundation of trust and communication that supports students success all year long.”

Beyond the handshakes and smiles, the event allowed teachers to share classroom procedures, learning goals and ways parents can be actively involved in their child’s education.

La Joya ISD recognizes family engagement is a critical factor in student achievement; that is why Meet the Teacher Night is so important – it gives parents the chance to explore campus resources, meet support staff and learn about extracurricular opportunities.

Meet the Teacher Night reflects La Joya ISD’s ongoing commitment to fostering parental engagements from day one.
