La Joya, TX – With the start of a new school year just around the corner, La Joya ISD welcomed internationally acclaimed author and literacy expert Pam Allyn to Juan N. Seguin and Evangelina Garza Elementary Schools – the district’s ACE Campuses.
Best known for her book Every Child A Super Reader, Allyn inspired and encouraged educators to see every students as a capable, confident and empowered learner.
“Every child has the power to be a super reader,” said Allyn. “But it takes a teacher – a passionate and intentional teacher – to unlock that potential.”
Held during the district’s annual in-service week, Allyn’s visit was part of La Joya ISD’s ongoing commitment to student-centered teaching and literacy excellence. Allyn’s special training featured actionable strategies to build a culture of reading and emphasized the critical role educators play.
“Her message truly resonates with our educators,” said Eliamar Lopez, Prinicipal at Seguin Elementary. “She offered our teachers some fresh motivation as she focused on the importance of cultivating joy and purpose in the classroom.”
As educators gear up for the 2025-26 school year, La Joya ISD is focused on supporting educators and emphasizing the significance of leading with purpose and fueling a passion for teaching.
“We are here to help our teachers begin the year powerfully and positively,” said Dr. Derek Little, Chief of Academics & School Leadership for La Joya ISD. “Allyn’s knowledge and experience make her a resource and, by working directly with teachers and staff, she is helping us ensure we are ready to support our teachers as well as out students.”
