La Joya, TX – Summer is quickly winding down and educators across La Joya ISD are eager to welcome students back for a thrilling 2025-26 school year.
This week, teachers are participating in a dedicated week of professional development and preparation. From classroom preparation to engaging in focused learning sessions aimed at strengthening instruction and student support, La Joya ISD is ensuring staff are fully equipped and ready before students return to class on Monday, August 11.
“This week-long initiative is designed for our educators to enhance their skills and knowledge,” said Dr. Marcey Sorensen, Superintendent of Schools for La Joya ISD. “Teacher preparation and in-service days are crucial for ensuring teachers can effectively deliver instruction and stay current with the best educational practices.”
Beyond instructional prep, the week also provides opportunities for collaboration, reflection and team building as educators work closely with district leaders to analyze student data, align expectations and plan lessons.
“These days are so much more than training – this week really helps teachers build momentum and connection,” said Eliamar Lopez, Principal at Juan N. Seguin Elementary. “Our teachers are very passionate about what they do and who they do it for – our students. They enjoy having this time to ensure they are ready to give students their very best from day one.”
