The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) at Memorial Middle School hosted a heartfelt and symbolic tree planting ceremony this week, led by students and guided by Counselor Mr. Sandoval. The event served as more than just a moment of environmental awareness—it became a powerful metaphor for personal growth, faith, and guidance.
During the FCA meeting, students gathered around the young tree as Mr. Sandoval shared a moving message: just as a tree grows tall and straight, individuals too strive to grow in the right direction. “When a tree becomes crooked, the owner gently guides it back to grow straight,” he explained. “In life, when we veer off course, we have people—and God—to help guide us back onto the right path.”
The ceremony served as a meaningful reminder to students that personal growth takes time, care, and community support. It emphasized the importance of staying rooted in strong values and seeking guidance when faced with life’s challenges.
This special event would not have been possible without the efforts of the dedicated Memorial Middle School staff. A sincere thank you goes out to Mr. Sandoval, Mrs. Vela, Mrs. Salinas, Mrs. Acosta, Mrs. C. Martinez, Mr. S. Salinas and Mrs. N. Garza for their support and coordination. A special thanks is also extended to Principal Mr. Villarreal for his continued leadership and encouragement in bringing this project to life.
As the newly planted tree begins its journey upward, it stands as a living symbol of growth, faith, and the strength of community at Memorial Middle School.
