Zapata Elementary Celebrates Dr. Seuss' Read Across America Week Zapata Elementary celebrated Dr. Seuss' Read Across America Week with enthusiasm and creativity, bringing the magic of reading to life! Students and staff joined in the fun by dressing up in their best *Cat in the Hat* attire, wearing wacky socks, and sporting green shirts in honor of *Green Eggs and Ham*. The week was filled with excitement, with everyone coming together to promote the love of reading. Throughout the week, friendly reading competitions took place between grade levels, encouraging students to read more and earn small treats as rewards for their efforts. The challenge brought out the competitive spirit in all, with each grade level vying to read the most pages! In addition to the fun activities, every student received a special Dr. Seuss pencil and eraser, generously provided by our librarian, Mrs. Lumbreras, to remind them of the importance of reading. Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students also received small treats to encourage and celebrate their participation in reading activities. It was a week full of reading, creativity, and joy, reminding students that reading can be a fun and rewarding adventure. Staff and students got “ducked” at Emiliano Zapata Elementary! Teachers, support personnel, cafeteria ladies, and custodians got randomly ducked throughout the week! Our 💯% attendance class, Mrs. Salazar’s 2nd grade class got ducked with a special treat! It was a happy ducking experience! ☺️😀

🌟 Zapata Elementary 5th grade girls had an amazing time celebrating Girls in STEM at the La Joya ISD Girls STEM Event! 🌟 They explored various science, math, and engineering booths hosted by school librarians, dyslexia and reading specialists, as well as science and technology administrators.
