📱 NEW CELL PHONE POLICY – HOUSE BILL 1481

Effective September 1, 2025, the Texas Legislature has passed House Bill 1481, banning student use of cell phones and personal communication devices during the entire instructional day, including:

  • Classrooms

  • Hallways

  • Restrooms

  • Cafeterias

  • During lunch

🔒 Devices must be powered off and put away from first bell to last bell.

🚫 This includes:
• Cell phones
• Tablets
• Smart watches
• Headphones/earbuds
• Paging devices
• Any other personal communication device

👕 DRESS CODE REMINDERS

To maintain a positive and respectful learning environment, please be aware of the updated La Joya ISD Dress Code expectations. Some key reminders:

❌ Not permitted:

  • Crop tops, see-through or off-shoulder clothing

  • Shorts or skirts shorter than 3 inches above the knee

  • Baggy/sagging pants, biker shorts, pajamas

  • Hoods, bandanas, sunglasses indoors

  • Inappropriate graphics/text

✅ Permitted:

  • Skirts/pants at the waist

  • Clean, appropriate clothing

  • Closed-toe shoes

  • Neat grooming and personal hygiene
