The National Procurement Institute has awarded La Joya ISD the prestigious Achievement of Excellence in Procurement (AEP) award which recognizes organizational excellence in procurement. The AEP award is earned by public and non-profit organizations that obtain a high application score based on standardized criteria. AEP award criteria are designed to measure state of the art in best practices, such as innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity and leadership of the procurement function. The AEP program encourages the development of excellence as well as continued organizational improvement to earn the award annually.
At La Joya ISD, it is evident that the Purchasing Department has built on their committed tradition to be compliant with stringent organization regulations set by the state and federal government agencies. This notable accolade affirms the district’s fiscal responsibility to our community.
“As a team, we strive to bring pride to La Joya ISD through high operational procurement standards. Garnering this prestigious award for the seventh year in a row, represents our district’s continued commitment to demonstrated public procurement excellence,” said Sylvia G. Zapata, La Joya ISD Executive Director of Purchasing & Warehouse Operations.
For 2020, there were 188 successful applicants in the United States and Canada, including 40 counties, 69 cities, 15 higher education agencies, 22 school districts, 34 special districts, 5 state agencies and 3 others. In addition, La Joya ISD is one of only four school districts in the state of Texas to receive the AEP award.
