La Joya ISD Marching Bands Earn a Division 1 at The Annual Pigskin Jubilee.

La Joya ISD bands earn for the 7thconsecutive year a Division 1 rating at the UIL 77thAnnual Pigskin Jubilee held at Tom Landry Stadium on Saturday, October 19, 2019 hosted by Mission CISD.

A total of 10 bands were part of the lineup including La Joya High School, Juarez Lincoln High School and Palmview High School who did exceptionally well. All three bands scored a Division I and Palmview High School will be advancing to the Area competition being held on October 26, 2019 at the Weslaco ISD Stadium.

This year only the 5A bands that received a Division I at Pigskin will be advancing to Area. This event has seen an increase bands throughout years and now high schools alternate each year depending on their classification. Palmview High School Band is considered a 5A band and will be advancing to Area.

A total of 28 bands from various competitions throughout the Rio Grande Valley have now advanced to Area in Weslaco, Texas. Out of the 28 bands, 10 of them will be selected to compete in the Finals. At the Finals, only five bands will advance to State competition in 

San Antonio at the Alamodome on November 4-6, 2019
