The Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) honors school districts for their commitment and efforts in utilizing best practices in the acquisition of goods and services. This Year La Joya Independent School District was one of 34 districts recognized by (TASBO) for excelling in their Purchasing Department and being a recipient of the Award of Merit for Purchasing Operations.
The TASBO Award of Merit for Purchasing Operations recognizes a school district’s achievement in implementing best practices in the area of purchasing. This is the ninth year that the LJISD Purchasing Department has earned this distinction. The District’s Purchasing Department received the award in March during a recognition ceremony.
“Our Purchasing Department is committed to serving the students and community in La Joya ISD and it shows in the outstanding work this department does each day. Having a committed staff to provide high quality service in facilitating the procurement function to support student achievement makes it easy to earn such a distinctive award year after year”, said Sylvia G. Zapata, La Joya ISD Executive Director of Purchasing and Warehouse Operations. “The Department consists of leaders who strive to provide the best resources possible to our community while ensuring our District remains compliant to purchasing laws and responsible to our taxpayers.”Zapata added.
As a recipient of this award, La Joya ISD is proud to exhibit to the community, its diligence to financial responsibility. Whether it’s earning an award, or providing essential information to the vendor community, the Purchasing & Warehouse Operations Department at La Joya ISD is definitely doing things right and are an exceptional example for many school districts in the state to follow.
