La Joya ISD Announces Lone Finalist for Superintendent

the Board of Trustees of the

La Joya Independent School District approved

Dr. Gisela Saenz

as the lone finalist for position of superintendent.

LA JOYA, TX – After a comprehensive and extensive Superintendent search process that drew more than 20 applicants from across the United States, the La Joya ISD Board of Trustees are proud to announce that Dr. Gisela Saenz has been named the Lone Finalist for the position of Superintendent of Schools. 

During the interview process, it was evident that her history and experience with La Joya ISD, uniquely qualified to lead the District into the future. 

Dr. Saenz earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from Pan American University, later earning both her Master’s and Doctoral Degree in Education from the University of Texas Pan-American. Dr. Saenz’s career with La Joya ISD began as a teacher, to Instructional Supervisor, later to Principal, then to Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, and most recently Interim Superintendent of Schools. 

She is married to Michael R. Saenz and her children include Michael R. Saenz, Jr., Brian Alex Saenz, and her daughter-in-law Nancy Saenz.

La Joya ISD will now enter the 21-day waiting period required by state law. At the end of the 21 days, the Board will consider approving her Superintendent Contract.
