After earning a certificate in Culinary Arts at the La Joya ISD C.A.R.E Academy, students used their skills to prepare and cater a post-graduation banquet for all board members and central office administration at the September commencement ceremony. The C.A.R.E Academy students have been taught a number of culinary art skills in order to prepare them for the workforce environment.
“I love that I can finally put everything I know to work. We’re taking care of ourselves while actually working through a pandemic,” commented Raul Hernandez as he helped set up the baked goods they prepared in the Culinary Art class taught by Ms. Lari Mercado.
The La Joya ISD C.A.R.E Academy is preparing students to become active, independent adults that will enter the workforce once they complete the program. Students are earning certificates in Culinary Arts, Floral Design and obtaining skills that will be utilized in daily living.
