Rebeca Muñoz is La Joya ISD September Diamond of Success

La Joya ISD is proud to feature our September Diamond of Success Rebecca Muñoz, an alumni of the graduating class of 2014. Her educational trajectory began in La Joya ISD where she was a member of many extracurricular programs, the Dual Enrollment Program and the Academies which all led to the interest of pursuing higher education as an Engineer.  Today Miss Muñoz is a successful Mechanical Design Engineer who works with the design of aircrafts for the U.S. Military Forces.

Miss Muñoz attributes the success in her career to the Dual Enrollment Program and AP courses such as Calculus, Physics, and other Sciences which La Joya ISD afforded to her as a student. She recollects, “My interest in math and science sparked the pursuit and interest of becoming an Engineer.”  Today, Muñoz works on designing parts for aircrafts where she uses math formulas and scientific methods to design with precision and accuracy.  Furthermore, her active participation in La Joya extracurricular programs such as the National Honor Society, Band, and UIL led her to prepare for a fast pace life. She comments, “I am grateful for the passionate individuals and teachers who taught and guided me in La Joya ISD”. The La Joya ISD Academies were pivotal in the role of becoming and Engineer as the coursework laid ground for multiple opportunities for Muñoz to seek employment anywhere.

Muñoz’ Hispanic heritage, background and the unique culture that la Joya ISD nurtured for her as a student contributed to her ability to collaborate with individuals of different nationalities in her career. She mentions that “Being a Hispanic minority gave me the opportunity to interact and communicate with individuals from different cultural backgrounds with ease.”

Rebecca is proud to share her family educational background and boasts that most of her family members are also alumni of La Joya ISD. She says, “I still have a sister that is in one of the Academies at La Joya ISD.”  Her family was passionate of higher education and most pursued a degree at the University of Texas where she also followed suit and graduated as a top graduate from this educational institution.

Miss Rebecca Muñoz would like to leave a closing thought for the community at large, “Thank you La Joya ISD for the Opportunity!”

The La Joya ISD prepares students with multiple opportunities and bright careers that open up a world of opportunities to become successful.
