The La Joya High School JROTC department is surly living up to their mission “To motivate young people to be better citizens”. On December 4, 2019 members of the La Joya High School JROTC delivered cans food to their adopted school Lorenzo De Zavala Middle School. Cadet Battalion Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Pricila Flores and Cadet Command Sergeant Major, Bryan Castillo wanted their battalion to do their service learning project on helping local families by donating non-perishable goods to help families that are in need this holiday season. The cadets didn’t wanted to take on this project by their own so they asked the entire La Joya High School to participate to accomplish their goal. The goal was to raise non-perishable items in order to support 50 local families during the holidays. The cadets were successful in achieving their goals and have decided to continue to make the can food drive an annual event for their service learning project.
