The La Joya Independent School District Health Services Department will provide a safe and healthful school environment by focusing on prevention and early intervention. Implementing an ongoing and effective health education curriculum will promote student and staff health safety.
The school nurse takes the leadership role by acting as a liaison between home, school
and community promoting an environment of optimal health and wellness conducive
to learning: “ Healthy Children Learn Better”.
Goals
1. Provide mandated screening and immunization monitoring
2. Provide Emergency First Aid.
3. Provide Health Counseling
4. Implement Care Plans for children with special health care needs
5. Implement and monitor student compliance and immunization laws
6. Special Education team member
7. Assisting with health related classroom presentations
8. Evaluate and monitor communicable and nuisance diseases
9. Act as a resource person for faculty and staff
10. Focus on prevention and early intervention.
