COMPULSORY SCHOOL ATTENDANCE LAW

The Office of Admissions and Records also enforces the Compulsory School Attendance Law by ensuring that students attend class everyday. The Compulsory School Attendance Law says that a child must attend school from age 6 to 18. Upon enrollment in Pre-K or Kindergarten, a child shall attend school. The Admissions and Records Director works closely with the three High School Student Attendance Officers to coordinate the truancy court dates with the Justice of the Peace from Precinct 3. We encourage all parents to send their children to school every day and turn in excuses upon return to the campus if the child has been absent. Truancy charges will apply if the student is absent without an excused absence on 10 or more days or parts of days within a six-month period or 3 or more days or parts of days within a 4-week period. STUDENTS, LETS STRIVE FOR PERFECT ATTENDANCE!
