
The main objectives of Region One Education Service Center are:
-to assist school districts in improving student performance;
-to assist districts to operate more efficiently and economically;
-to implement initiatives assigned by the legislature or the Commissioner of Education.
The Service Center serves over 352,000 students and educators in 7 counties in south Texas including Cameron, Hidalgo, Jim Hogg, Starr, Webb, Willacy and Zapata counties..
South Texas College is a comprehensive college offering the Bachelor of Applied Technology, and associate degrees and certificates in 90 degree and certificate program options.
The University of Texas-Pan Aamerican is the 10th largest university in the state and the fifth largest in the UT System. UTPA is second in the nation in the number of bachelor's degrees and fifth in the number of master's degrees awarded to Hispanics.
