Everyone from teachers, administrators, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, superintendents and board members came together this week to kick off the 2017-2018 school year on the highest of notes!

La Joya ISD turned it up a few notches this year by putting together an employee assembly that was completely student led and full of spirit and high energy.

From the masters of ceremonies – Juarez-Lincoln High School Junior, William Arriaga, and Memorial Middle School 6th grader, Evelyn Treviño, to a collaboration of our 3 high school drum lines, Mariachi “Los Coyotes” and the 3 high school dance departments, the entire State Farm Arena was bursting with pride!!

“The 2017-2018 school year brings with it the potential in all of district staff to make a difference and change the lives of  students we serve,” said Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Alda T. Benavides. And the 4,600 plus gathering reminded La Joya ISD that “IT starts with ME.” Never losing sight that everyone’s purpose is “IT” – the process, the education, the diploma, it ALL begins with ME!

Best of luck to the entire La Joya ISD family as we prepare for a fantastic school year!!
