In an effort to open even wider the lines of communication (between the school district and the community) La Joya ISD is launching a new initiative that will instantly signal parents of important information.
La Joya Insider Alert is a text messaging system whereby people in the community can receive free text messages with important district news. Beginning this week, every campus in La Joya ISD will be equipped with an Android tablet where the user inputs their cellular phone number and automatically accepts them to receive district text messages.
“This service (more than anything) is one more means of QUICKLY getting facts and information out to the community,” stated Eden Ramirez, La Joya ISD Director of Public Relations. “We can now alert subscribers of emergencies, bad weather days, events, or changes within the school district that affect our students and/or our employees.”
Over 50 tablets will be distributed across the district and placed in high-traffic areas where anyone can easily input their information, and instantly be added to the La Joya Insider Alert system.
La Joya ISD is one (of only a handful of school districts in the valley) who currently offers this kind of service to the community.
