When you think of the best in high school drill/dance teams, the La Joya High School Jewelettes rank at the top of the list. This organization embodies the true definition of tradition, showmanship, and has preserved their reputation as the team with “the finest halftime show in the Rio Grande Valley” for over 3 decades.

Founded in 1985 by LJISD Executive Director of Student Services, Ms. Marina Abdullah, this year the Jewelettes are celebrating their 30th anniversary in a big way.

During this week’s last Coyotes home game, the team will be reuniting with former and future Jewelettes for an impressive halftime show. Alumni from the past 30 years, current members, and middle school Jr. Jewelettes will fill the field in a spectacle that will be remembered for years to come.

“As a former Jewelette, I feel so proud to host and showcase 30 years of drill team excellence at La Joya ISD,” stated Everest Guerra,  Jewelettes Director. “The fans have been talking about this anniversary reunion all season, the Jewelettes alumni are nervous and excited to dance again, and everyone is just anxious to see so many girls on the field,” added Guerra.

Known to receive standing ovations everywhere they perform, the Jewelettes wow football fans with their spectacular halftime shows, entertaining music and choreography, and of course- their trademark – jaw dropping kick lines!

We look forward to this Friday’s 30th Anniversary reunion of past, present, and future Jewelette dancers.
